As a Senior Associate / Manager within the Financial Services (“FS”) Valuations team, you will be part of an enthusiastic team of professionals who work closely with the client, focusing on a wide spectrum of valuation topics.

Within the FS Valuations team, you will be mainly focusing on insurance companies. The insurance industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the introduction of Solvency II, the persistent low interest rate environment, the mature and competitive market in Western Europe, changing customer behavior, and technological developments. These trends result in market consolidation, new parties entering the market, an increased focus on optimising the value potential of the company and innovation.

Our job is to provide our clients with advice that enables them to make better decisions. For example, performing valuations for clients that are buying or selling a business, helping companies in strategic decision-making, supporting the client in optimising the value potential of their business and post-deal services such as Purchase Price Allocations.

Responsibilities
The Valuations team is part of the Deals division at PwC Advisory. The Deals division works on all deal related issues of our clients, from strategy to post-deal integration. In practice, this means that you will often be working on assignments with colleagues from other PwC divisions and colleagues from other countries. The services of the Valuations team are called upon in various situations, such as:

  • With the purchase or sale of an enterprise or business unit: what is an enterprise worth, what are the synergy benefits, and what is a sensible price?
  • Drawing up and assessing of financial projections;
  • Value creation analyses: why does an enterprise lag behind the competition and how can additional value be created?
  • Building M&A and valuation models for clients which they will use to make decisions and continue monitoring the performance of a business after a transaction;
  • Due Diligence analysis on and modelling of the key value drivers of an insurance company; the current Solvency II position and future free capital generation;
  • Financial statement analysis (post-deal): performing Purchase Price Allocations after closing the transaction and providing support with the annual impairment testing procedures.

Requirements
We are looking for a colleague with an academical background, 3-6 years experience in the insurance industry, proficiency in financial modelling, good communication skills and capability to work in a team.

  •  You have a master degree in science, (Industrial) Engineering, Business Administration, (Business) Economics, Econometrics, Actuarial Studies or a technical study programme. If you have a degree in another discipline and have an affinity with the field described above, we would also encourage you to apply for this position;
  • You have between 3-6 years of working experience within the insurance sector;
  • You have knowledge of the required capital regime for European insurers, Solvency II;
  • You are experienced with financial modelling;
  • You enjoy working at the crossroads of finance and strategy;
  • You are analytical and pragmatic and have good communication skills;
  • You enjoy working in teams and coaching and developing others;
  • You enjoy the variety of project-based work and are capable of working on a few of them at the same time.
